NORSU

Blending sleepy tones, punchy rhythms, dynamic movement, and a thread of melancholic optimism, norsu write songs about the struggle and beauty found in everyday life. What began as acoustic closet recordings by songwriter Rein Fichtner grew into a four-piece band in 2023, now featuring Steve Nishi (guitar), Jayden Bouzane (drums), and Taiyo Nishihara (bass).

Their sound draws from 2000s alternative indie, โ€™70s folk-rock, jazz fusion, and 2010s Australian indie rock. After releasing their acoustic EP Songs From my Basement (2022), norsu received Creative BCโ€™s demo recording grant in 2024 and recorded their debut full-length album THE BASEMENT SWEET at Holy Cow Studio in Kamloops, BC. The album, released November 2024 alongside the video for โ€œamateur hour,โ€ blends new material with reimagined earlier tracks.

Theyโ€™ve performed across the Okanagan and BC in venues ranging from coffee shops to DIY punk spaces, and at festivals including Khatsahlano Street Party, Sundog Festival, and the Kingfisher Bluez Christmas Party, sharing stages with Peach Pit, Down The Lees, The Jins, and Chastity.

VOGUE VILLAINS

Following the 2024 release of their debut album Built On Bones (supported by FACTOR Canada and Creative BC), Vogue Villains have been carving out their place as a rising force in alternative rock across Western Canada.

With gritty intensity, harmonic vocal melodies, and relentless hooks, their singles โ€œBleedโ€ and โ€œTastes Like Sinโ€ have gained radio support across the country, including spins on 91.3 The Zone (Victoria), 100.3 The Bear (Edmonton), and 106.9 The Wolf (Nanaimo). Their live show is polished yet chaotic, moody yet playful โ€” an immersive surge of energy that hits hard and lingers.

SUBURBAN ALIENATION

What started as two dudes playing jazz quickly mutated into a hardcore punk project pulling influence from every corner of music. Loud, raw, and unapologetic, Suburban Alienation are here for one thing:

Play loud. Make you feel it.

Three distinct sounds. One stage.
Alternative indie depth, hook-heavy alt-rock, and explosive punk energy โ€” all in one night at Frequency Sound.
